07/15/2022 - The Path to the American Legion World Series (unofficial)

07/15/2022 - The Path to the American Legion World Series (unofficial) -

(1) Each American Legion Department (state) determines their champion;

(2) Eight geographic Regions are established with a "Host" American Legion Baseball program - that program is an "automatic bid" into the Region Tournament and assumes the majority of the expenses for operating the Region Tournament (umpires, transportation, housing, etc.);

(3) Each of the eight Regions has 7 other qualifiers, either Department (state) champions or runner-up teams from states with more teams registered.

(4) Each Region has a double-elimination tournament with the winner advancing to the American Legion World Series.

(5) The American Legion World Series has eight teams - there are no automatic or guaranteed slots - you must win to get here. The host location (Shelby, NC) and The American Legion assume the majority of the expenses (transportation, lodging, etc.);

(6) The American Legion World Series Champion is traditionally hosted by Major League Baseball at a World Series game;
