American Legion Baseball notes (local) -

(1) Toledo Adams Township Post 553 won the Department of Ohio baseball championship - BUT with the start of the OHSAA football season on August 3 they were unable to get the necessary twelve players to commit to playing at the Great Lake Regional in Alton, IL. Troy Post 43 (the runner-up) will represent the Department of Ohio in Alton. Note - the American Legion Baseball program requires a roster to be submitted in June - and additional players are NOT permitted.

(2) The 2016 Department of Michigan Class A (1,500) and Class AA (5,000) State Tournaments will be held in Adrian, MI. The Class A tournament will be played at Siena Heghts University field and the Class AA tournament will be played at Nicolay Field at Adrian College. The teams will be housed in motels in Adrian. While some details are to finalized it is expected that a tournament pass will be good at BOTH venues. I'm guessing but I would expect the dates to be July 27 (Wednesday ceremonies) thru (if necessary) Sunday July 31. Hudson Post 180 (Hannah-Colvin) is the host for the Class A tournament and Adrian Post 275 (G. Chandler Bond) is the host for the Class AA tournament.

(3) Adrian Post 275 G. Chandler Bond had their end of season "pot luck" recently. They announced the winners of two Post 275 scholarships to players going on to college. Grant Anschuetz (Tecumseh HS, 2015 / Butler University) receieved the "Frank & Shirley Dick Scholarship" (Mr. Anschuetz has also received the "Robert Turner Memorial Scholarship" awarded by the Department of Michgan). Jeff Arnett (Tecumseh HS, 2015 / Bluffton University) received the "G. Chandler Bond Post 275 Baseball Scholarship" . Note - Between 2001 and 2015 49 (forty-n ine) members of Post 275's baseball program have received scholarships from either Post 275, the Department of Michigan or the American Legion (national).
