#2019 American Legion Baseball World Series Awards -

*American Legion Baseball George W. Rulon, American Legion Player of the Year Award is presented annually in memory of a long-time dedicated director of the American Legion Baseball program for 25 years. The award is based on integrity, mental attitude, cooperation, citizenship, sportsmanship, scholastic aptitude and general good conduct. The recipient will attend the 2020 National Baseball Hall of Fame Classic game next May in Cooperstown, N.Y..
Trevor Marsh - Randolph County/NC Post 45 (Asheboro HS/19 - UNC / Wilmington);
*American Legion Baseball Big Stick Award is awarded annually to an American Legion Baseball player at the World Series. The presentation is made to that player who compiles the highest number of total bases in Regional and World Series competition.

*American Legion Baseball Dr. Irvin L. (Click) Cowger RBI Memorial Award. The recipient of this annual award, is the American Legion Baseball player who is credited with the most runs batted in national competition (Regional tournament and World Series);

*American Legion Baseball Bob Feller award - ALB's first graduate to be elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York was “Rapid Robert” Feller. This award is presented annually to the pitcher who has the most strikeouts in Regional and World Series competition.
*Randon Hostert - Idaho Falls/ID Post 56 (Bonneville HS/19 - Utah (drafted by Texas)) - 23 strikeouts;

*American Legion Baseball James Daniels Sportsmanship Award is presented annually in memory of a long-time dedicated supporter of the American Legion Baseball program from South Carolina. This award is presented to a World Series Player who best represents teamwork, loyalty, cooperation, self-reliance, fair play and courage.

*American Legion Baseball Jack Williams Memorial Leadership Award - Adjutant Jack Williams led the Department of North Dakota for 49 years before his death in 1967. Aware that proper adult leadership is an important component of success, Williams encouraged qualified men to work in the program. To honor Williams' memory, this award is presented to the manager and coach of the national championship team as outstanding representatives of adult leadership.

Procedure -
(1) player is nominated to the department (state) baseball committee. Each department's baseball committeereviews the submitted applications and selects a department winner to receive a $500 scholarship.
(2) the department (state) winners are reviewed by the World Series Scholarship Committee (Legionnaires and academic representatives) to select the national awards (one per region);
*Each player on the team receives a $2,500 scholarship;
*An overall top academic player is named the team captain and awarded a $5,000 scholarship;
The presentation was made by Vice Chairman of the Committee on Youth Education James Davis of West Virginia.
