American Legion World Series Champion Midland Berryhill / Post 165 was honored in a pre-game ceremony at Yankee Stadium last night
(10/28). The Midland Daily News URL is above;
* Every Legion World Series-winning team since 1926 has been invited to the World Series;
* American Legion Baseball National office pays for flights, lodging and expenses in New York (and game tickets). Midland Berryhill/Post 165 will attend both games 1 and 2;
* Josh Quinlan, program coordinator for American Legion Baseball noted that Yankees' players Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Mark Teixeira, Johnny Damon, Jorge Posada, Jose Molina and A.J. Burnett all played American Legion baseball; as did Phillies' players Chase Utley, Brad Lidge, Jamie Moyer and Drew Carpenter; and Yankees' manager Joe Girardi and Phillies' manager Charlie Manuel.
* Wednesday - Quinlan will take them to Mickey Mantle's restaurant for lunch;
* Midland Berryhill / Post 165 will stay at the Sheraton Inn and Towers;
* Thursday, Legion Post 1291 in Chinatown will give Berryhill a tour of Battery Park, Ground Zero and Chinatown. The team will eat a meal in Chinatown.
